Moab

Every year in June we take a fun trip to Moab with Davids mom and step dads family. I think they started doing this when they got married and it has become a fun tradition. I have only been twice, once on my own without babies and then the next with the twins. Finally David didn't have to work so we all were able to go this year. Usually the trip consists of everyone riding razors through the desert and taking in the amazing terrain. David didn't want to fork over the money to rent a razor so while everyone else went riding we played tourist and went to Arches National Park.

We stay at the KOA in these cute little cabins, except for those that have trailers. The kids use to all camp in tents, but with too many mishaps in the past years the tent idea is a no go.

We packed up lunches and lots of water and headed to the Arches visitor center. All the years traveling to Blanding to family reunions I have watched cars drive up the mountain into the Park, and finally I was one of those cars. I love nature, it amazes me. Arches was beautiful and a lot of the formations reminded of when you drop wet sand on top of each other and it forms a tower that's soft and looks like mud, you know what I mean?, yeah, they were cool!

Pine Tree Arch
We went to the farthest north of the park to Devils Garden. There are a lot of arches there in the same area and it was going to be closed the next day so we decided we should go there first. The boys did pretty good and only started whining towards the end. We saw about four or five different arches and it was the perfect day. It was overcast almost the entire time, talk about lucky. There was a ton of soft sand in Devils Garden too and the boys loved it.

Broken Arch

Aiden and Oliver loved climbing up through this arch with me. They get their adventurous side from me, that's for sure. Just teasin David :)

Delicate Arch Viewpoint
The last hike we did was to the Delicate Arch viewpoint. It was short and sweet and was perfect for the boys. We decided not to drag them along the long hike to see the arch in its full glory, one day though when they are older.
We then drove around to see the other arches from the luxury of our air conditioned car and cushioned seats.

Double Arch

The minute we started back to camp the boys were out. We got back at about 3:30 because we thought everyone else would get back around 6 or so, so that would leave us enough time to get showered and cleaned up, but the big group that went riding razors and ATV's didn't get back until after 7, they got lost. We were glad they were OK because we were starting to worry. We had dinner that night and thank goodness we had an easy dinner of pasta and veggies because we ended up eating in the dark, but that's OK, it was a good day. Aiden and Oliver loved sleeping in their own bed in the cabin and enjoyed the bunk beds, that might be something we will have to have at home someday. We saw lots and lots of lizards, and while we were in Arches we saw 40 different state license plates and three out of the country ones, crazy!

Sunday we decided to go on a lengthy hike up Negro Bill Canyon to Morning Glory Natural Bridge that's along the Colorado River. We didn't know exactly what to expect so we had fun surprises of crossing the stream and if it was just David and I on this hike I definitely would have waded in the water at a few points. Aiden and Oliver did really well getting to the Bridge and only got tired and whiny when we were almost there so we just kept on reassuring them that we were about there. The hike was a little more then 2 miles in so it was nice to sit in the shade, walk in the water and eat lunch. We spent about an hour at the Bridge recuperating and gaining back some needed energy.

On our way back out of the Canyon Aiden and Oliver started getting really, really whiny. So David being the muscly man that he is picked each one up and put them on his hips and he carried them the rest of the way out. It wasn't the shortest distance either, maybe half a mile, and carrying 60+ lbs, well let's just say, it wasn't easy. Go David!! It was really nice hike and we will definitely do it again in the future, also it was Father's Day.

Washing the car before we leave, and the twins don't like it very much

Happy Father's Day to this sexy man!!

We had a fun weekend but we had to end it a little short and go home Sunday night so David could work the next morning. We look forward to next year and the twins especially, mostly because of all the sand they got to play in endlessly. See ya next year!!
