The Greener Life

David and I try to think of ourselves as environmentally friendly. We love nature, we recycle, dislike hunting (sorry for those of you who love it), love the outdoors, respect the earth, respect nature and almost all creatures (not the real yucky ones), we try to not buy processed foods
(though it can be tough sometimes, especially ice cream.. YUM!!) we try to make things ourselves instead of purchasing the item, we try to not drive if we don't have to, we try not to use a lot of power, we are naturists and we eat a vegetarian diet. David was vegetarian before and just did it really to be different but now that we want to do it together we realize the health benefits to eating and living a vegetarian lifestlye. As a society we eat way way way too much meat and it is not necessary. We just want to try to live a more simple life and live off th
e land. If it were David's choice we would live in a shack and be hippies and do everything ourselves but that is not reality so we will just try to live a greener life, so I guess you can say that we are tree huggers!!
David and I recently watched a documentary called Forks Over Knives http://www.forksoverknives.com/ . It explains how too much meat consumed does horrible damage to your body. Most of our health issues come from eating too much meat, and dairy. It was very informative and it is what changed David and I's mind about eating meat. Here is another link I like that explains what meat to eat if you do eat meat because not all meat is the same! http://michaelpollan.com/resources/animal-welfare/.
David and I would also one day love to build a house out of straw bales. It is much cheaper then your conventional building methods and much more insulated. You can personalize it easier without the cost and they are so so cool :)
This is way into our future but that is just fine.
Hopefully by the time we can actually build a home like this we will be able to pay for it all and not have payments.. I am just thinking positively. Notice the solar panels in the front of the cottage style home, we want those too. :)

We also want to have a cool natural pool in our backyard and it looks like this...

and they work like this...

Pretty cool huh? Well we think so :)
Just to clarify though we do support others by purchasing items, we just try not to spend too much on what we don't necessarily need :)
